How do I connect my PanoX V2 camera to Wi-Fi?

Connecting Labpano Cameras to Wi-Fi

  1. Access Wi-Fi Settings in the Camera:
    • Launch the Avatour app on the camera.
    • Navigate to Settings -> Network -> Wi-Fi.
  2. Authentication Methods:
    • Select the appropriate SSID.
    • Set the security protocol based on the network type:
      • For WPA2/WPA3 Personal (most non-corporate networks): Enter the Wi-Fi password.
      • For Enterprise (802.1X): Choose the EAP method (e.g., PEAP, TLS, TTLS) and provide the necessary credentials or certificates as guided below.
  3. Captive Portal Login (if applicable): Some networks, especially guest networks, will require a separate password or other interaction with a web browser. This is called a captive portal login.
    • After selecting the SSID, the camera’s browser should automatically open to the login page.
    • Enter the credentials provided by your service provider and/or accept the terms, to complete authentication.
  4. Captive Portal Troubleshooting: If the captive portal doesn’t open automatically:
    • Exit to the camera's app menu, and open the web browser app.
    • Visit any website (e.g., www.google.com) to trigger the login page.
    • Follow the steps to log in and/or accept terms.
  5. Persistent Authentication:
    • If login is required frequently (e.g., every 24 hours), this could disrupt workflows. For a more seamless experience, we recommend provisioning the camera with a device certificate (EAP-TLS), if supported.
  6. Test and Validate:
    • After successful configuration, verify the connection by uploading or streaming from the camera.

Questions for IT

If you're having difficulty joining a corporate network, you can ask the following questions of your IT department, and share the answers with Avatour support at support@avatour.com. We'll then be able to better assist you in resolving the problem.

  1. Wi-Fi Authentication Protocol:
    • Does the network use WPA2/WPA3 Personal, Enterprise (802.1X), or a captive portal with SSO login?
  2. Captive Portal Details:
    • Are there any specific requirements for the SSO login page (e.g., allowed domains, certificate installation)?
  3. Device Certificate (if required):
    • If using EAP-TLS, could you provide a certificate in .crt or .p12 format and instructions for installation?
  4. Session Expiration:
    • Is authentication time-bound (e.g., requires re-authentication every 24 hours)?
    • If yes, can persistent access be configured using device certificates or MAC whitelisting?
  5. Network-Specific Configurations:
    • Are there additional fields (e.g., domain, identity, Phase 2 Authentication) required during setup?
    • Are there any port or firewall restrictions we should be aware of for the camera’s functionality?
